2nd Pre-Area Tournament

The Helena Dominators played their 2nd pre-area tournament in Thorsby this past weekend. They are continuing to play great and "dominate" their opponents. They made it to the championship game once again and came in 2nd place to Chelsea. Next weekend will be the area tournament and hopefully these girls will be able to make it to the state championship!

My Smallest Prayer Warriors

My dear friend, Jennifer Hughes (http://wwwdoyoubelieve.blogspot.com/), has been such an inspiration to me during my battle with cancer. She was able to bring two of her sons to meet me for the first time this past weekend. It was such a pleasure meeting Aiden and Jax. They are two of the most handsome little guys I have ever seen and I am so blessed to have them, along with their brother Austin, praying for me every single night. Jennifer, thank you so much for all of your love, support and prayers over the past year. I can't wait to see you guys again!

Helena Dominators

Erin made all stars this year and has spent the last month practicing nearly everyday. She is playing center or left field. She has even spent extra time practicing with daddy and has learned how to catch fly balls in the outfield. She had her first pre-area tournament in Chelsea this weekend. The girls won several games and made it to the championship game where they lost out to Chelsea. They played really hard and were still excited to walk away with the second place trophy. Way to go Dominators!!!

Coach Kelli normally doesn't give out game balls, but today she had all the girls sign a ball and she presented it to me after the championship game. It was a very special and emotional moment for me. Coach Kelli has become a dear friend of mine over the years and she is one of my biggest supporters in this fight against cancer. I love you "Feisty K"!!!

Fun at the River

After a hot day at all star practice with Erin, we met up with some dear friends of ours for some fun at the river. The girls got to enjoy their first boat ride, they swam their little hearts out and Emily even caught her first fish. It was so nice to just kick back and relax and forget about cancer for a little while. Our dear friends even picked up ribs and bbq for dinner. Joey, I can't thank you enough for inviting us. We all had so much fun and we can't wait to hang out with you guys again!

Erin's Piano Recital

Erin has been taking piano lessons since around October 2010 and she is doing great! She had her second piano recital tonight and she memorized three songs to play. She played them well although she said she messed up. I didn't notice! After everyone played their pieces everyone was given a certificate and then trophies were given out for "Player of the Year". Erin received the piano player of the year trophy. We were not expecting it and were both surprised and so very proud. She has just caught on so quickly and one thing I know she has learned is that when it gets hard, you try harder! Erin, mommy and daddy could not be more proud of you. We love you!

Mother/Daughter Softball Game

The Helena Diamond Divas had a winning season and we celebrated by having a mother/daughter softball game along with their end of the season party. Us moms tried our best, but the girls had us beat by a long shot. The girls really got a kick out of watching us try to practice what we had been coaching them all season. Let me just say they make it look a lot easier than it is! I am so proud of how much each girl improved this season and no matter what they never gave up. Erin, I LOVED watching you play shortstop this season. It was so exciting and I am so proud of you. Love you E!!!

Relay for Life

This was our second year to attend the Relay for Life at Pelham High School. It was such an amazing feeling to walk the Survivor Lap with my sister Survivor Suzan Blackshear for the second year in a row. I have had a rough battle with cancer, but to know God is helping me beat this makes me feel like I can do anything. Walking the second lap with Brandon and the girls, my mom and dad and MaCher is also very special to me. We had a wonderful time and I am so thankful for everyone who makes this event so special. I am looking forward to walking that Survivor Lap again next year!

More Pics of Em's First T-Ball Season

Em had a great first season playing t-ball. She played a little at every position, did a good job hitting the ball, but I think her most favorite part was running bases. We loved cheering her on and she loved the attention. She will get to play 6U next year and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this little slugger! We love you Em and are so proud of you!!!

Helena Beach

After our Mother's Day lunch, Brandon took the girls and I down to Helena Beach for some fun in the sun. It was an absolutely gorgeous day!

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day was perfect and I enjoyed the day so much. We got up and went to church this morning. Afterwards we met my mom and dad and granny and Brandon's mom and step dad at Costa's for lunch. It was delicious. I went and had a Mother's Day massage earlier in the week and it was so nice. It was just what the doctor ordered :) I hope Grammy and MaCher enjoyed the day as much as I did. I am so thankful to have these two women in my life. They mean the world to me. Happy Mother's Day to two wonderful mommas!!!

Food and Fellowship with our Family

It has been the most wonderful day! The girls got up very excited to see what was in their Easter baskets. I think their favorites were swimsuits and Squinkies. We had breakfast and quickly got ready for church. The service at Church of the Highlands this morning was amazing. We headed home and got ready for our family to come over for lunch. We had so much yummy food and then we all headed outside to enjoy this gorgeous day. There was four wheeler riding before the Easter egg hunt. The girls found all the eggs with a little help from Grammy and Uncle W.C. Afterwards, we had a water balloon toss which of course turned into a water balloon fight. I think the funniest part of the day was when Erin ran out of water balloons. She just decided to turn on the hose and she drenched Papaw!!! We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family and I am so thankful that I got to spend this day with people that I love so much.
